Doug Durlacher is a Philadelphia based theatre artist currently making a living remodeling homes. The juxtaposition of these two worlds is more relevant to the balance of life than one might think. In the theatre Doug has spent years creating characters, sets, props, entire productions which live only for a short period of time and then disappear. These then only live on in the memory of the artists and the audience and their shared experience of the human condition on any given evening of performance. In remodeling, Doug is creating long-lasting and concrete additions and improvements on people's homes. These changes affect the way people live, feel, and how they function in their everyday lives. The world of an art into which an audience escapes and which disappears after a brief time has passed, and the world of permanence and change brought into the personal space both come together in Doug's love of writing songs which capture emotion, soul, and the human experience.
